And It's Not Even Halloween Yet

Get me a clove of garlic, a wooden stake and a crucifix.

Hubby was bitten by a bat yesterday.

Yup. A bat.

This is something that I have NEVER seen up here. But there they were. A few of them, hiding in a pile of wood at his work. He disturbed it by accident when he was moving the four-by-fours, and said it was kinda cute. Luckily, the tiny thing didn't puncture his skin.

But just to be on the safe side, I think I'll get a mirror and make sure he still projects a reflection...

Better check the breath and adversion to crosses too...just to be sure.

Yike! I love bats, but I sure am afraid of rabies! :-0 :-0 Glad it didn't break the skin & hoping he has a reflection. :-)

Ha ha, lots of garlic in his spaghetti sauce! Bats can be cute though, aren't they? Just too bad they have such a reputation. If you take your husbands picture and he is there, everything is okay.

LOL...my DH hates bats. Glad it didn't break the skin, rabies shots are no fun. Great post!

Heh, heh.... poor hubby. Hasn't grown any fangs yet, so I guess he's okay ;)

Said there were at least half a dozen of the little guys, and when he shook the woodpile a bit to get them out of the way, they flew up into a tree.

Now that's something I would have liked to have seen.

Keep a close eye on his wardrobe. If he starts sportin' a cape, you may have a problem!

One thing you should be mindful of is that bats are one of the most common carriers of rabies (and a plethora of other diseases)- if you haven't done so already, I would at least call a medical clinic and check to see if he needs any shots or anything.

Bats are pretty common around here (po-dunk wisconsin) and my husband always warns me to not get too close for that very reason (I'm weird and I think they're cute, but I always try to be careful!)

PS- it's probably fine since it didn't puncture the skin, but....
one can never be too careful,....well, I guess TECHNICALLY one could!!

Next time, ask Ozzy Osbourne to check the pile first.

Glad he wasn't punctured!

I second the checking with a medical type person. Even if it didn't puncture the skin, you're not sure what they can pass along via saliva.

Ewwwwwww....bat saliva!

Holy smokes! That is pretty creepy. I think he should definitely get checked, just to be on the safe side.

though a little late, hows ur hubby doing? did he get himself checked? tk cr :)

Seriously, he needs to be checked at the hospital. People can be bitten by bats (and infected with rabies) without knowing it, so even though he thinks the skin wasn't broken, it's important that he be checked. Rabies is always lethal if left untreated, but there are very effective treatments, and the sooner they are administered, the more effective they are.
