Dayzed

It's been nearly a month since I was on vacation yet I continue to struggle with one of Life's Most Challenging Questions each morning:

"What's today???"

Over the holidays it didn't matter if it was Saturday or Wednesday... they were all un-working days, so who gave a crap which exact day it was? It was a blissful two weeks. * Sigh *

But here it is, nearing the end of January, and I still lay in bed wondering... is it Thursday? No, Wednesday! Ummmm... it doesn't feel like Friday....

And I think I know why.

I blame it on TV. Yep. It HAS to be because my regular shows have yet to return to Prime Time.

Tres sad but tres true.

I used to know it was Thursday when the previous night we dumbed down to America's Next Top Model. Mondays I would be mentally smacking those idiots who made the wrong choices on The Amazing Race Sunday night. But now? Nothing. Nada. You'd think Friday would be easy to figure out; but without rehashing the latest Survivor episode in my head, I am lost.

But not "Lost"-lost... I never did start to watch that show when it first aired, and then it was too late; I was out of the loop. I guess I'll have to invest in the DVDs now. Errrr... but I digress....

Lately the only day I am absetively posolutely certain of is Tuesday. That's because my favorite show, "The Big Bang Theory", is back with new episodes on Monday nights. Bazinga!

Big Bang TheoryBut until the rest of our regularly-scheduled mind numbing, time sucking programs return, it looks like I'll need to locate a bedroom clock that displays the day of the week now too.

Because I'll be REALLY pissed if I accidentally get up at 5:30 am on a Sunday.

Since I watch very little network television programming, as I find all of it lame, esp. ALL reality shows, the only way I can keep track of what day it is, is by remembering what my boss has on his schedule. If I'm in the grocery store and forget the date, I think, 'well yesterday had to have been the 22nd b/c he had a Motion', or 'Monday must be the 25th b/c the Brief is due at the Court of Appeal." Sad, isn't it?

It's amazing how without TV the days start to blur together. Without my Thursday shows I'm at a complete loss! Luckily they have returned to their normal time and will stay that way until the end of the season (I hope).

On your Lost predicament, I too missed the bandwagon that everyone else loaded into as soon as it was aired. One thing you've got to love though is what you can find on the internet! I've been watching them online lately and figured maybe you'd prefer to do that then spend money on something you're not sure you'll like! Enjoy!

My days also tend to blend together without regularly scheduled programming. Glee, why are you no longer reminding me of when it is Wednesday?

Luckily now at least I have How I Met Your Mother when it is Monday. I also watched the last episode of the Big Bang Theory and found it entertaining.
Have You seen How I Met Your Mother? I think you'ld like it.

I gave up on Lost a long time ago. They killed off all my favorite characters and it was too difficult to follow. Maybe someday I'll have to sit down and watch it all on DVD.

I love big bang! Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? That one is also stellar comedy.

Well, you are just rehearsing for your retirement, when all days merge into one long holiday. I have to check my little computer calendar several times a day - yes, I said SEVERAL times a day for either myself or for Mo, who constantly asks me what day it is!

I love Big Bang Theory! Sheldon's my favorite. :) I never know what day it is, I just know that its a school day for Kidlet or a non-school day. If it weren't for my computer, I'd probably not even know that. :)

I felt that way this morning at 3:30 am. Then I remember Mondays bring jack Bauer and all was better.

TV or no TV, I wake up every morning and think, "YAY! Saturday! Lie in!" Then, just long enough later that I've got used to the idea, I realise. **sigh**

You are so right! I do exactly the same thing - know which day it is because of what I watched the night before. And who says Prime Time just has to be a certain time of the year? I doubt that everyone turns their TV off when the ratings go off. I don't but I do hire out a lot more dvds...

Survivor starts Feb 11th! Or is that 12th?? Well...it's the Thursday that lands on the 11th or 12th.....and I can't wait!! Evil Russ for the win! lol

Oh, and congrats on becoming a blog of note! Well done!

Yes, I love Amazing Race. Wish I could get on it! Too bad I cannot find a teammate worth bringing, ha!

You know, Maureen, I recently came across a GINORMOUS clock ((made for senior citizens, which you are NOT!)) with the month, day, year, and the time all in very large figures...

Okay, firstly I have to point something out... unfortunately Big Bang is a repeat tonight. That's okay, it's still hilarious. But the wierd thing is, it's the episode I just so happened to use an image from when I posted this morning.

Oooooh. There goes that freaky Universe-Karma thingy again.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to watch the rest of the episode, then I'll come back to respond to comments.

I'm watching Big Bang Theory and surfing some of my favorite blogs during commercials when I read this. Bazinga!

Maureen said...

Heh, heh, heh.

Oops, sorry. Now that BBT is over I can respond to comments.

Jo-Jo: Yikes. Using the bosses' schedule, eh? Yah, that is sad too.

Annray: Aha! So I am NOT the only one! Oooh... thank you so much for the link! Awesome! (I hope it works outside the States - sometimes they are US only). I shall check it out!

kristengilmore: Yes, I like HIMYM too! And you wouldn't believe how hard it is to keep from hearing too much about Lost; I swear one day I will watch it, and I don't want spoilers...

Bryna: You have awesome taste... yes they are both very funny shows!

Hahahaha Babs! You are right! And since I can retire in March, sounds like I am all set! (I won't retire then, but it sure is nice to know I CAN).

Raiscara: Jim Parsons is fantastic, no? Sheldon never fails to crack me up. I swear sometimes I have tears in my eyes I laugh so hard! I loves me my Geeks!

Hahaha Reforming Geek! You know we never got hooked on 24. Instead I bought hubby the first two seasons on DVD (so far). We have as yet to get thru the first day.

Tooting Squared: Ahahahaha... that sounds like me!!!

Ca88andra: I know! I hate it when all the shows end at the same time. Especially in winter; at least in the summer I have a life. In the winter? Not so much.

Awesome JC! Thank you!!! And thanks for the kudos...

Richard: I would go on Amazing Race, but I would never be able to do that eating part... gag. But I have met Phil. He's tres cool.

Ahahaha Janet! Sounds perfect! Where can I get it? ;)

TWolf: Bazinga backatcha!!!

With everything going on I haven't been missing my favorite shows since I have no time to watch them. But now I am panicking because I DON'T have any time to watch them so when they do come back I don't know what I am going to do! And I am one of those people who freak out when I miss an episode of anything I like to watch. Nevermind I can probably find it online the next day...

CarrieMarie said...

You're definitely not alone. I got rid of my cable & watch all my shows online now. Which means that I'm always a day off because I watch the shows that air Monday on Tuesday & so on. Heh.

I didn't even realize this about myself until I read your post. I guess I tend to figure out what day it is based on what shows are on too. But thankfully I'm addicted to so many shows that I always know what day it is (although I'm not sure if I should be thankful for being addicted to this many shows...I blame my DVR for that one).

Daisy said...

It's even more confusing for me, because I always watch shows the next day on my DVR!

Gnetch said...

I love The Big Bang Theory. Its just so funny! Hey, you might want to read my latest post. I gave out my thank yous. ;D

We haven't watched network programming in so long. The TV gets turned on for the news, DVDs, and the Wii.

I see I'm not the only one who keeps track on the computer. I really get messed up during school holidays.

I watch the Bachelor on Monday nights...I wish there were reruns on BBT on at another time. The few times I have watched it was hilarious!

lol! I never know what month it is let alone day most of the time;-)

I have learned to stop telling the day of the week via the television....it was hard, but I did it....I beat the addiction.

holy crap, I love your blog!! What a refreshing bit of prose. Thanks for commenting on my blog or I might never have found your oasis of wit. I know what you mean, I haven't worked since October and I never know what day of the week it is. Good luck locating that day of the week clock, let me know when you find one.
so how did you stumble upon my lowly blog? and did you see I have some excellent blog candy up for grabs?

BBT might be the funniest show on television. Bazinga! I love it!

I am looking forward to the next Amazing Race, but not sure if we are going to watch the upcoming Survivor. There are a few people on there that were quite annoying. :)

Found your blog via blogcatalog. Can't wait to read some more.

I understand completely. I hardly ever watch tv and now that I am done with school I never know what day it is. At least in school I knew it was Monday, Wednesday or Friday vs. Tuesday or Thursday. Oh well. So far I haven't been late for anything.

I've lost track of all my tv shows since I moved. Not I'm perpetually confused. I remember the days when I used to have a calendar to keep track of what today was. Mebbe I should get me one.

Vegas Princess: Now you see, that is the one thing I haven't done yet, watch TV on my laptop... I know a lot of videos just don't work outside the US.

Carmar76: I would be afraid I would hear spoilers somewhere before I got a chance to watch the show. I can just see me walking around, hands over ears going "LA LA LA LA!!! Not listening!" when the topic comes up at work....

Ahahahaha Anahid: You sound like me! (my condolences)

Daisy: Some shows I have to too, but I still prefer to watch certain ones "live" so I don't hear what happened!

Dyinetch: Aw, thank you so much! I shall pop on over!

Brenda: Oh yes, school holidays... I used to be that way too; now at least now that daughter is in university, I don't have to remember what School Day it is now too!

Becca: It is so hilarious to me because it hits all the geeky notes in my life. Star Wars, computers, science, comics... gad I love Sheldon.

Ahahaha Perpetual Chocoholic! But you DO know it's 2010 though, right? Right????

Oh Lady Banana, now I could never do that. For sure I would screw it up... I need me my routine.

Was it a twelve-step process Bruce? I must look into that... when I am ready to admit I have the addiction, that is. ;)

Holy crap Nancy, thank you! ;) Ha! I don't know off the top of my head, I shall have to stop by again and figure out how I found you! But thank you so much for coming by and your very nice comment!! Did you say candy? BRB

Aw, thanks Julie and welcome! Yes, BBT is my all time favorite. I have TIVOd each episode this year and have Season 1 on DVD. Loves it!

Well that's good Todd! Yeah, school is another good way to tell which day it is (or which day to dread) right?

ChooChoo: "Perpetually Confused." Now that's a great name for a blog! Oh I see it already is a blog; too bad it's not being used anymore. Darnit.
