Oh My

It's late. Very late.

I'm on a business trip in Milwaukee, in my hotel room cringing at the loud music permeating from my neighbor's room. After I can't take any more, I call the Front Desk to ask them to kindly keep it down.

Could it be teenagers? Party-hardy young adults? Or perhaps the local Harley Davidson gang whooping it up?

Worse.

It's SPAH. Yup. Right next door. To me!

I shudder as the music continues... When the heck will that call come to stop the madness?

What? You mean you've never heard of "SPAH"?

Yup. A harmonica convention. Right here in the same hotel I am trying to sleep at. Even though the average age of the participants is about 105, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Literally.

Get a hundred or two of these Senior Harmonica-Players together, and you'd better watch out. They won't budge as you attempt to weave your way through the crowd to your room. They barge in front of you at the buffet. Blue-haired ladies with walkers cut in line at the Front Desk. Old men in suspenders commandeer all the lobby seats proudly displaying their instruments to fellow musicians, breaking into impromptu jam sessions with gusto. They don't care; there's strength in numbers.

They're a wild bunch all right.

Makes me long for the Harley gang.

I ********love*********** music with harmonica!!!!!! And music without harmonica...

I would like to have heard that, blue hair & all. Sorry, I'm sure a sympathetic vote would have been better. Hang on, wait I'm thinking...

Nope. Sorry, sorry, sorry. That I would have liked to have seen. :-)

Maureen, I feel your pain. I stayed at my sisters hotel on Saturday night and apparently they had a entire wedding guest list staying there! Oh... yeah.. lets just say they were on 2 floors and ours was one of them. They came rolling down the halls about 4 am yelling and singing and falling! Just what you want to be awaken by.... a bunch of partiers falling on the floor.

I wouldnt mind being woken up by a bunch of party goers but a harmonica convention, that really does take the biscuit! Hope you got some sleep Maureen?!

That's pretty funny. Now, what would happen if there was a barbershop quartet convention in the same hotel?? Madness would ensue!

I say, go buy a kazoo and join in!

LOL! You must be getting seriously sleep-deprived between the harmonica players and your noisy night from the previous post :) I hope you get some undisturbed sleep very soon!

A Harmonica Convention? Sorry, but that is the funniest thing I have ever heard. You can't make stuff like that up. WOW, I bet they do make a lot of noise. I you managed to get some rest or move to a new hotel!! They don't sound like very nice guests.
Hopefully, you will be home soon.
Take care.

I feel your pain. I work in a hotel at the Front Desk and we do truly care. I tell yah just beat on the wall. Okay just joking. I hope they quieted down so you got some sleep.

You just can't make that stuff up.

I heard the next morning they moved the party down to the lobby / lounge and it went on until 5 AM! Since I had to be up at 5:40, I am glad I got at least a bit of sleep.

So glad to be home now!

hi there, hope you don't mind me popping in to say hi. It has been a few weeks, I am a fellow dorky dad fan. I was just reading all your posts and some of them are really hilarious. Maybe you needed to pass around some punch to the harmonica players??? Of course, spike it first so they can all get sleepy and let you rest...hee hee. Hope you don't mind if I pop in again sometime soon.

As for those seniors, they sure know how to have a good time, once they let their blue hair down, theres no turning them back.
