All Nighter

I awake suddenly and to answer the first question that instantly comes to mind, glance at the clock on my nightstand.

2:25 am. Crap.

I stare at the ceiling as hubby snores loudly beside me.

My mind begins to wander... decorating ideas bombard me for the upcoming long weekend room renovation project.

Paint colours. Accessories. Window treatments. Repurposing. The exact order to move everything. Solutions to problems were being solved in rapid succession.

I take a look at the clock once more.

3:14 am. Crap again.

Tawnee snuggles in closer at my feet, laying her head on my leg. I try not to disturb her.

Mental notes are taken, to-do lists drafted and everything seems perfectly planned.

Now if I could only get back to sleep.

4:27 am. Crapity Crap Crap!

Serves me right for downing that venti no whip, non-fat, peppermint mocha with a triple shot of espresso at 10 pm last night.

But it was delish and now my weekend is planned out.

So it's a win-win. If you don't count the bags under my eyes, that is.

Oh, sorry. I've done that late night coffee thing, and even professed aloud that coffee doesn't affect me like that. I was kicking myself for four hours watching bad TV in the middle of the night. I'm an idiot.

Good luck with your weekend project! I suggest drinking several coffees right before you start. NOT THE NIGHT BEFORE.

Decorating? That sounds like a nightmare!

Maybe a late afternoon nap is in order!

I'm so glad I hate strong coffee, though I used to have nights like that anyway! Hope you catch up with sleep soon. can we see photos after the decorating?

My last cup is no later than mid afternoon especially Starbucks! I've done that and it's no fun. When I can't sleep now I just get up and blog or make something. :)

Hum....then what was my excuse?

Good Luck with your decorating!

Yum, starbucks! Somtimes a late night coffee is worth a sleepless night.

I'm having a dark roast Senseo myself and it's bound to keep me awake, but it tastes so good. I just blog until I get tired and take an afternoon nap the next day. Yes, I do have that luxury, I realize that. Sometimes things aren't equally divided in this world.

I often find myself in that delima, get up early in the morning and can't go back to sleep (no caffine involved though) - with a lot of things on my mind. What I do is go to my computer and transfer what is on my mind onto my computer.

I eventually go back to sleep.
All the best to you!

It's a good thing that I can't stand the taste of coffee, otherwise this'd happen to me too. I love my sleep far too much to have anything disrupt it!

Do you actually remember all your wonderfully precise plans hatched in the middle of a sleepless night? I never do. What's your secret?? Please please share it!

6:00 p.m... that's my deadline. Absolutely no, none, zilch, nadda, zero caffeine after 6. Otherwise I'd be planning your remodel too.

Oh I hate nights like that! As a matter of fact, I think in general it hasn't been a good night if I know what time the clock says at any point. Good that you made the best of it though! :-)

Oh, my GAWD! If I drank even a regular cup of coffee after noon, I'd be up all night.

And I don't even have decorating ideas to keep my mind occupied!

Janet said...

Yep, BTDT, too many a time. :-) But yay for productivity, whatever time (of night) it occurs!

JoJo said...

Have you lost your mind? Drinking coffee at that hour? I won't touch caffeine past Noon!

You didn't read the fine print on the cup......"Do not consumer after 7pm?"

Catching up on all my blog friends tonight - I am so sorry I've been a bad blog commenter lately...and the first post I read here tonight made me smile straight away....thank you!!

Many times have I always been victimized by my coffee habits. Still, it's really nice to take a sip. :-)

Drinking coffee that late has absolutely no effect on me. Now give me some chocolate and I am bouncing off the walls!

Those are so hard to resist!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I haven't been able to sleep through the night for years. It's a real drag. Just like you,I wake up and then I lay there thinking about a thousand things. But the only difference between you and me is that I wake up at 2:15, lay there and think about a thousand things, then I glance back at the clock and it's only 2:17!!! What a drag.

Happy trails.

Finally the project is done and I can get back online! Apologies for my late responses:

Kathy: Oh yeah, TV in the middle of the night is almost as bad as daytime TV... thank goodness for Tivo. Thanks!

VE: It was a nightmare. But it's over now. Now it's a dream to create in.

Daisy: You read my mind! I think I need a daytime nap EVERY day!

Babs: I used to hate coffee; then I became a manager and started attending meetings; I was soon hooked. And yes, photos are up!

Marsha: Aha! So THAT's how you manage to do all your wonderful decorating! You don't sleep! ;)

Thanks Reforming Geek!

Debbie: Starbucks is the best, that's for sure. I even love the new VIA's... so easy to make a single cup. Too easy, that is.

The Green Stone Woman: I nap on weekends if I can. During the workday, sometimes I can lock my door and rest a bit during lunch; which I am incredibly lucky to be able to do.

Nativa: What a great idea! Luckily, I remembered my thoughts for that night; but I haven't been so lucky in the past. Sometimes I totally forget all my wonderful thoughts (which I am sure really weren't so wonderful). Recording them is brilliant.

Tony: Oh how I wish I never got hooked; but I am done for; Daughter is a Starbucks Barista too!

Pinklea: This time I was lucky. I made an acronym of the first letters of the important words; I use that technique a lot.

Jeff: Aw, Jeff... I should have plied you with coffee and then got you and your wordworking tools up here....

Jill: My mind wanders. Sometimes it's off the beaten path, sometimes it's on. This time it was on. AND I used the plan too!

JD: Usually nothing keeps me awake, but this time the combination of project planning and caffeine did me in.

Janet: Yes, at least I didn't stare at the ceiling all night!

Jo-Jo: Why yes, I lost my mind years ago... oh, you're talking about the coffee? Well, that too.

Lady Banana: Luckily they don't happen all that often.

Ha! Bruce, I sure didn't. Dammit. Next time I'll have to pay closer attention.

Ah, you are more than welcome Toni! I have been lax in responding as well; so no apologies necessary.

Walter, it IS nice... I'll just have to be more aware of the time I partake of it, I guess.

Ha Vegas Princess! Chocolate I can handle... but I make sure I only have it in small doses.

KarenMeg: Yes, hard to resist indeed! Hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving too!

Oh yikes, Swubird! That would suck. Give me a glass of wine and I am out... that ensures a full night of sleep for sure!
