Moribund? Moribund?

Has it really been 2 MONTHS?

Yep, yep, (flipping a few calendar pages....) well look at that.... so it has.

Gad.

For two months I've been "on sabattical".

Er, "on vacation".

Or perhaps simply "on the couch".

No, not on the couch... that's hubby's territory.

I've been "on the laptop".

Yes, it's been pretty quiet here because I've been busy with other things.

But definitely this blog is NOT "moribund" as one commenter asked. (Don't feel bad if you don't know what that means... I had to look it up too):

Definition of MORIBUND

1: being in the state of dying : approaching death

2: being in a state of inactivity or obsolescence

NEVER! Nevernevernever! Temporarily ignored, yes. Dead, no!

What I HAVE been doing is simultaneously getting other projects done whilst feeling utterly guilt-racked about not posting here. I am quite good at giving myself guilt-trips you know... I have honed that skill for many years.

The major project I just finished was properly organizing and cataloging a very dear collection I have had since 2004. What collection you ask? (I know you did, don't deny it). Well, some people may think it's silly, but it's an art collection.

Star Wars art to be more precise.

Yep. Star Wars. My obsession hobby before blogging overtook my life. If you're a long-time reader, you'll know I am a self-described geek and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being Uber-Geek), I am a 20. Or perhaps even approaching 21. I have a whole basement full of Star Wars toys, books, games and anything else Mr. Lucas could slap a Star Wars sticker on.

Back in 2004 the Star Wars Fan Club sent all us geeks, er "fans" original cartoon cels and drawings from the 1985/86 Ewoks Saturday morning cartoon series. Since then, I've collected hundreds of cels but sadly had them just shoved away without the proper care they deserve. So I finally got off my butt and properly sorted, photographed and archived the artwork into scrapbook binders for safe keeping. And then I built a brand new website to share it with all the other Uber-Geeks HERE.

Now that it's done, I can hopefully balance my "extra" (Ha! Like I have "extra") time amongst all my other interests.

Problem is, I have way too many "other interests". I'll just have to do a bit here, a bit there and make sure the guilt monster doesn't keep me away for such a long time ever again.

So, as Mark Twain once said "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated".

Moribund my @$$.

It's about time! I was wondering what happened to you!!! I know lots of Star Wars geeks, so you aren't alone. One of my friends from high school nicknamed his car "the Milennium Falcon" when we were in school. Now that we've reconnected on FB, 30+ years later, I find out that he's still driving a crappy car but he now calls it "The Milennium Chicken". lol

Great to have you back. :D

Holy Crap Jo-Jo! How the heck did you DO that? Were you hiding in the bushes just waiting for me to appear??? You are ultra-fast! Ha!!!

It feels SO GOOD to be back too! The longer I was away the harder it was to come back... so I just had to sit down and simply start writing.

You are hilarious! I never named my car, but I did call my old vacuum "Artoo" on occasion.

But never when anyone else was around... ;)

Welcome back! I know what you mean...my blog has been in the same state for other reasons. I've been trying to do better though!

so it took one little word to get you all fired up and bloggin again hun? :) I like it.

Congrats on getting it all organized. I have a few piles of "stuff" that I need to do that too, but none of it nearly as fun as a Star Wars collection.

Thanks Heather! I know there are a LOT of blogs I loved that have died a slow death; but frankly I missed writing way too much to give it all up! The hardest part was just DOING it. Now I have to do my best to keep it up. Maybe not daily (I never did have daily posts), but perhaps weekly will suffice...

Maureen said...

Thanks Connie! Yeah, once I read that, it really struck a nerve... my blog is part of me I realise, and to see it dying felt just awful.

I don't know how many times over the past few weeks I've said to myself "Myself, that would make a good blog post... oh, yeah... my blog...."

This feels much better! ;)

Don't feel too bad girlfriend, there's a lot of us in the same boat. Oddly enough, it seems we all got the bug to come back at the same time.

I loved Star Wars. Talked like Yoda, I used to, yes.

Well, I'll be! I thought you were well and truly moribund. I check my feed daily and shake my head sadly. So glad you're back.

Power to the Geeks. May the force be with us, always. Glad to see you are back. I know all about taking a break. My blog is on temporary vacation.

Seems something is always coming up (lack of motivation) or my working on other projects (any other excuse i can think of).

I thought it had even been longer since you had posted. It seems like forever. It's good to have you back. You're excused, of course. People should have other hobbies besides blogging. People should have a life.

Babs, I am so glad to be back too... it's like a great weight lifted off my shoulders. I really missed you all.

Geek on John!!! Yes, time slips away so quickly; like any job, the first step is always the hardest. I hope you return to your blog soon too! I had fun reading your posts.

Maureen said...

Nora, you are so right. We all have other things in our lives, but the secret is balance. Unfortunately, when I get a new project going (like my new Ewokcels website) I obsess over it until I am happy with it. It was a huge undertaking getting it where it is now; but like any site, it is never truly "done". But at least I have it at a point that it is worth visiting.

Maureen said...

Daisy it IS a skerry word! I don't like it at all!

I really missed you and Harley, but tried to comment now and again over at your blog to keep up with your posts that always gives me big smiles! I am very, very glad to be back!

Yay, Maureen is back! I have missed you. But you have been busy. So have I so I understand completely. Just don't let the absence go so long next time. :)
